New Decompiler with Java 5 support

English version below:

English Version:

Once in a while every Java developer has the need to decompile one or the other class.

If you Google for decompilers you’ll realize that there exist several free implementations, however for all of them development stalled about four to five years ago. In some forums people even suspected that lobbies or other interest groups are trying to prevent the development of decompilers by threatening the developers.

Whatever the reason is, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Yesterday I came across a new decompiler which looks and works really really well. Java Decompiler is a 600kb large stand-alone application written in (I guess) C using the WxWidgetsW toolkit. It is available for Windows, Linux and Mac.

Hi BadMad,

Thanks for your post. Some of your readers have visited my Web site.

No lobby and no company contacted me to stop development of JD-GUI :)

I want to remind that software licenses routinely ban reverse engineering, but American courts routinely say that reverse engineering is fair use, permissible under the Copyright Act.

JD-Gui is under development. Bugs are fixed each month. Stay tuned !
